I heart faces week 38

It has been a long time since I have done anything with my blog or photography. Two weeks ago I started my photography class and have learned so much so far. And I am loving the homework. My two younger daughters went up north to the cabin with my husband last weekend. My oldest decided to stay home because she had a birthday party to go to (my niece Taylor's). I had to work, but I did get to spend some time at my brothers house with his beautiful girls. Which worked out well as I got a little Photography class homework done. My kids get a little sick of me snapping pictures of them but I know I can always count on my niece's to mug for the camera. This is Ray, isn't she the cutest! This is my entry for I heart faces week 38 challenge "Smirk".

I'll still here.

Wow, I haven't posted in a long time. I should have a lot to share soon. I'm going to try and get my etsy store back up and running. It might take me a while with school and work. I'm starting my photography class on Friday and am so excited about that. So coming soon (I hope) lots of great photo's, cards, and my usually personal stuff.

I feel like we are turning a new page in our life, everyone of us is starting something new tomorrow.

So here is to new beginnings.

Frankenmuth

The Lightning team had a tournament in Frankenmuth last weekend. It was a blast. Last year we got up at 4am to get ready and get to Frankenmuth by 7am both mornings. This year we stayed at the Bavarian Inn. Which made it so much nicer, especially because the girls had such a busy schedule. 1 game Friday evening and 3 games Saturday. As always Dan took some amazing pictures of the games, and I took some mediocre pictures of the team having fun and doing what these wonderful fun loving girls do in there down time (when they are staying in a hotel with 5 pools and an arcade). I don't usually share a lot of Dan's photos because they are his and he really isn't into sharing his work, which is such a shame he really rocks the camera. BUT this one is my favorite. Even though Alyssa ate about two pounds of dust, when she slid into home.
And this is Rebecca's awesome double.(also shot by Dan)


Dan got so many great shots of the team, I can't wait to hand out the CD's to all the parents.

Now for my mediocre shots. These were all taken at the Inn.

The Lightning team families always have fun when we get together for a little R&R. Bree and Ash rocked out at karaoke.

The dads even got in on the fun, Dan and Steve rocked the Nascar game.

How many softball players can you fit into one photo booth? 3 softball players, one little sister and one big brothers. LOL.

This was the last tournament for NB Lightning now begins the All Star season.

I heart teenagers

We are celebrating teens at I heart faces this week. I have been trying to get the perfect shot of Alyssa (my 13 year old) and I've got some really good ones, but I chose this one because it is just so her. She is fun and funny and always happy.

All about Babies. . .

This week is all about babies at I heart faces. Unfortunatly I don't have any baby pictures. ( And no time to get a good one of my adorable niece Sophia. I do have this picture of Bubba (black) and Betsy (brown). Bubba is about 3 years old but Betsy is still a "baby" she isn't a year old yet.

This week I heart faces expanded the challenge to include baby animals and I'm so glad they did. Make sure and check out all the amazing baby photos her -->I heart faces.

School is OUT !

Today was the last day of school, pheeeew. It has been a busy week and I am exhausted.

To start everything off this girl turned 13. Wow time flies, it seems like only yesterday I was rocking her to sleep. (Brianna made the tissue paper flowers, it's her new favorite thing to do and I have to admit they make me smile.)

Then it was honor awards night. (This pic is as good as it gets, I just couldn't get a good one.)

Dan and I had parked and were walking up to the school for Rebecca's 6th grade graduation and saw our niece lauren waving at us from the cafeteria. Lauren is so funny she always makes us laugh.

Rebecca hugging Mrs. Goldstein, we love her. Alyssa had Mrs. Goldstein for 5th and 6th grade and Rebecca had her for 5th. (all the teachers line up to tell the students goodbye) We all have our fingers crossed that Bree gets her next year too.

Alyssa got her track medal.

Then Brianna had her 4th grade graduation, I know what your thinking because I was thinking it too. 4th grade graduation? that's a little much.. But I get it now because in our school district the 5th and 6th grades are in a different building. So the kids are graduating from the lower elementary to the upper elementary.



We really have been blessed with good teachers this year. Mrs. Eaton is such a wonderful person. (please say a prayer that Dan's neck brace can come off soon thats him in the background)

I'm back

Things are returning to normal, well as normal as it gets for us. My last post was April 26th. Not a lot has happened since then. Except . . .

my husband is doing 110% better! :)

ANd

She turned 10.

We finally got to go to one of her track meets.

People often mention how fast she is, but I never realized how truly fast she was until watching her with the other runners.

Not a lot to post about but it's been awhile so I thought I'd get ya all caught up. I will be posting again soon, this week we have softball, softball and more softball also Alyssa's first semi-formal dance and Bree's concert.

Neglect

A few weeks ago Dan brought up the fact that I have been neglecting our Camera. It's true I had been leaving it zipped in it's bag for weeks without letting out for air. So I decided to give our Cannon some love and take more pictures. So I thought I would share some of my favorites here on my blog, because I will be neglecting my blog for a while.

You may notice their are no pictures of Alyssa. She has an insane schedule and it seems like she is only home to sleep. She is up at 5a.m. every morning and on the bus by 6:30a.m. in school until 3, then right to track practice until 5:30, then she has a whole 30 minutes until softball practice which lasts until 8p.m. She loves every minute of it. (Crazy girl)

feeling sentimental

I recently read a blog post that my friend Angi posted about a vintage print that hung on her Great Grandma's wall. She asked readers if there was a vintage print, or a wall hanging that meant something to them. At the time I really couldn't think of any, but at Easter we found out that Dan's older brother and his wife are going to keep bees. Some people were a little freaked out by it, but I was and am so excited. When I was little my Great Grandma kept bees, I was so fascinated by the bees and I loved her bee boxes, to me they seemed magical. You have to admit it there is something fairytale-ish about the bee boxes, a queen lives in them. :)

My Dad was a photographer for a while and I was his biggest fan. He took a picture of my Great Grandma's bee boxes and I loved it so much that I had it blown up and hung it on my bedroom wall. I love the shabby chic look of the old weathered bee boxes, and at that time GG had passed. She lived with us the last couple years of her life and she truly had become my best friend. I loved listening to her stories about growing up, she was such an amazing person. I still miss her and think of her often. But that picture my Dad took captured not only the beauty of the bee boxes, to me it represented my GG. I haven't seen that picture in years and wonder if it is lost somewhere at my parents house or if it is just lost forever.

I also think that my obsession for photography was born with that picture. It was so much more that just an image on paper.

I found this picture of bee boxes on-line, but they aren't my GG's bee boxes. I just wanted to have a pretty picture to go with this post.

A couple of weeks ago Bree and I stopped at the dollar store. She found this very cool top hat head band. A split second after she asked if I would buy it for her I was planning a photo shoot.
I changed everything to black and white except the hat and her eyes. I haven't altered the color of her eyes at all. All my girls have those amazing blue eyes just like their daddy. The top hat reminded me of the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland. We had so much fun doing the photo shoot and I got so many great shots. I wish I could share them all right now, but I will share more soon.

We have been spending a lot of time at home and that has given me a lot of time to scrap.
I love making my own flowers.

Don't you love Fridays? I do, usually I have a class on Friday mornings (Children's Literature we are studying fairy tales. I love it!) but this morning my class was cancelled. So I had time to do some scrappin'. Yay!! I have been wanting to do the Glee Challenge at Noel Mignon Challenge Blog. I have to confess I have heard great things about the show, but haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet. My work schedule really reeks havoc on my t.v. watching.
