The Costume, Trick or treating, a bit of history, and 11 years.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay, today is November 1! One of my most favorite days of the whole year. Today Dan and I have been married for 11 years. What did I get, oh just a 2008 Trailblazer. It is so awesome it is our gift to each other. It's our first new, never previously owned car.

11 Years ago today

-I got my first parking ticket while getting the last minute alterations done on my dress. (then
forgot about said ticket and ended up having my drivers license suspended.)

-I married the man of my dreams, while practically sobbing my eyes out. (seriously
embarrassing, I can't even watch the DVD)

-I cracked a molar. (that was darn painful)

-It was one of the most happiest days of my life.

Yesterday was Halloween, another one of my favorite days.

I didn't get to stay long at Alyssa (the dead bride) or Becca's (Marilyn Monroe) Halloween parties because I couldn't get the day off work. I basically was just there to help them with the makeup, then I had to leave. I didn't even have enough time to get a good picture. Ruth Fox has their Halloween parties the week before Halloween, and it continues after school. The kids get to wander around the school, and the classrooms have different activities going on, the girls love it. Then on Halloween night the school does that for the community, so the kids can go to the school and trick or treat and do crafts and also walk threw the haunted hallway. Lots of Fun.

I did get Halloween off and was able to go to Bree's party. It was a blast. I have to say that I love our community, the whole town of North Branch seems to revolve around the children. Every year for Halloween, the town closes down for about an hour in the afternoon. The police close the main road threw town and all the children from the lower elementary (K - 3rd) line up and walk threw town. Everyone comes out and watches the kids in there costumes and the kids love it. Last year I went and walked with Rebecca, because it was her last year at the lower elementary and this year I walked with Bree. We had a blast. We were stopped by so many people asking to take her picture because of her costume and people complemented both of us on it.

She was a HOT AIR BALLOON. People just loved this costume, and it was so simple to make, that I thought I would share it here. Bree got the idea from a library book. We took an inexpensive laundry basket and cut the bottom out. Then we took 4 dowel rods, and duct taped them to the basket, then we blew up a bunch of balloons and duct taped them together and to the 4 dowel rods. We used the crepe paper to cover the visible duct tape. Bree made a sign the said Balloon Rides $.25 and we put that on the front of her basket.

We had dinner at Uncle Kevin's house and went trick or treating down town. We were so excited that Hunter and Lucas were able to go with us. We are very close friends with their dad and have spent the last 4 Halloweens together. I was a little worried with the divorce, that we wouldn't get to spend Halloween with them this year.

Also while we were at Kevin's, he showed me a book he had found at the library. It was the History of this area of Michigan and there was a part in it about my family. My moms side of the family, that I don't know very much about, but have always wanted to know. I found out that my Great Great Grandfather Albin Otto Leach, was born in Leipzig Germany, and that my Great Grandfather was born at Wing Lake in Oakland county he died the August before I was born. Also my Great Grandmother (who I was very fortunate to have a close relationship with while growing up, she lived with us the last 2 years of her life.) Helen Rhodes, side of the family established the Rhodes scholarships at Oxford University (that side of the family is from New York and Rhode Island). That was my Halloween treat, don't you just love family history.

Don't know when I'll be able to blog again, my home computer is still not working, urgh
